Big News: Trout Lake Community Moves Toward Joining Pool District
Exciting progress is underway for Trout Lake residents who want to be part of the new White Salmon Valley community pool project! A petition has officially been submitted to begin the process of annexing the area within the boundaries of the Trout Lake School District into the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District (WSVPMPD). That means the question of joining the pool district could go to a community vote in November 2025.
But first: a public hearing and board decision are coming up!
ποΈ Public Hearing & Special Meeting β July 31
The WSVPMPD Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, to hear comment on the proposed annexation.

Immediately following the hearing, at 6:30 PM, the Board will reconvene at a special meeting to review public comment and vote on a resolution that, if approved, would place the annexation measure on the November 2025 ballot.
π³οΈ Whatβs Being Proposed?
The area within the boundaries of the Trout Lake School District would become part of the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District (WSVPMPD)βa special-purpose district created to build, operate, and maintain a long-term outdoor community pool.
Joining the district means:
Trout Lake (school district) residents would vote in future Park District elections
Trout Lake (school district) residents could run for positions on the Park District Board
In-district residents would receive in-district rates for pool use and programming
π΅ What Will It Cost?
If annexation is approved, property owners in the Trout Lake School District would begin paying the same levy as current district members - $0.167/1,000 of assessed value.
A home with an assessed value of $400,000 would pay $66.80/year.
Note: Any change to the levy rate would require voter approval.
β What Happens Next?
Public hearing on July 31, 2025 at 6 PM
Special meeting at 6:30 PM to consider public comment and decide whether to approve the annexation resolution
If approved, the measure will appear on the November 2025 ballot
Only registered voters within the boundaries of the Trout Lake school district will vote on whether to join the pool district
